FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I am not pregnant but I have a gynecological problem. How can I get an appointment with a gynecologist ?

If you already have a file at Gynovie and your last visit with your gynecologist was less than two years ago, please make an appointment by filling out our online form. Please note that your file remains active for two years, after which time you will need a new referral from your doctor.

If this is your first visit to our clinic, or if your file has been inactive for more than two years, you need a doctor’s referral. Here’s how it works:

1- You are visiting the clinic for the first time and have a referral from your family doctor

Your family doctor must forward the referral to the Centre de Répartition des Demandes de Services (CRDS). This is the access point set up by the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services to help patients who need a first appointment with a specialty.

Your consultation request is prioritized by the CRDS, based on information provided by your family doctor. The CRDS team will make the appointment and contact you.

Our clinic is subject to the same CRDS requirements and regulations as other specialist clinics. We have no control over the prioritization of requests or wait times. The allocation of appointments is beyond our control. Please contact your family physician if your health status changes while you are on the waiting list.

2- You are visiting the clinic for the first time and have a referral from a specialist doctor

This section applies to you if your referral was made by a specialist rather than a family doctor. Examples of specialists include gynecologists from other clinics, emergency physicians, urologists, internists, general surgeons and oncologists.

The specialist must fax your request to the Gynovie clinic (450-859-0011). The consultation request will be evaluated and prioritized by one of the clinic’s gynecologists. Please note that we receive a high volume of requests for consultations. Wait times vary depending on the reason for the consultation. Please contact your family doctor or referring physician if your health status changes while you are on the waiting list.

We will contact you by e-mail to create your file and provide you with an appointment. Please note that you will not receive any calls to book or confirm your appointment. All communication will be by e-mail.

3- You have been seen at Gynovie by one of our gynecologists, but your file has been closed.

This section concerns you if you have already seen a gynecologist at Gynovie but your file has been closed. Your doctor must send us a new consultation request by fax to 450-859-0011. You will then receive an e-mail with the date and time of your appointment, based on the priority assigned to your request and your gynecologist’s availability.

To learn more about our procedure for closing files, please refer to the section: “I have a file at the clinic. Can I consider that I now have a gynecologist who will follow me forever?

4- You are being actively followed by a Gynovie clinic gynecologist, your file is active.

Please click on the “Book an appointment” button and fill out our online form.
